Can I get involved?
In common with a good proportion of local government business, OSC committee meetings are open to the public. Different Authorities have different rules about whether members of the public are allowed to address such meetings. Some have an "open" session, during which questions and contributions are welcomed; others insist that such approaches are made in writing and in advance. Many Authorities also have procedures in place for accepting petitions at committee meetings, which may be a way of getting your voice heard. You will have to check what regulations are in force in your area. You may find that, whatever your local Authority's rules, it might be most effective to lobby your local councillor to put your point on your behalf.
