Overview and Scrutiny Committees (OSCs)

How can it help me?

OSCs' primary responsibility is to ensure that the electorate's views are represented in local healthcare issues.  If there is an aspect of NHS service provision in your area about which you feel strongly, then you are entitled to bring the matter to your OSC's attention.  You can either do this directly, or via your local councillor.  For details of how to do this, see "Can I Get Involved?" below.

Do note, however, that OSCs are largely concerned with "the big picture" (they mostly operate on what is known as a "strategic" level: that is to say that they are concerned with overall strategy, rather than the day-to-day details of service delivery).  They are not there to look at individual cases, so they will only be keen to hear of your experiences if you can show that your story draws attention to something important about the way in which local NHS services are structured.
