Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (CPPIH)

What is it?

The Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health (CPPIH) is a body that has been set up "to ensure that the public is involved in decision making about health and provision of health services".

The structure of the CPPIH is designed to enable it to work on national, regional, and local levels.  There is a central office (in Birmingham), which heads up the national commission.  In addition, there are nine Regional Centres, based across the country (for a full list of these, see below).  Finally, each of the regional centres has commissioned independent not-for-profit organisations to support the individual PPI Forums in local subdivisions of their area (these are known as "Local Network Providers" - LNPs).
