Different bodies and procedures operate in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.

Scotland

In Scotland, responsibility for Patient Advocacy is assumed by the 16 Local Health Councils.

Wales

In Wales, Community Health Councils have not been abolished, and they retain the responsibility for Patient Advocacy. There are 20 Welsh CHCs.

There are four Northern Irish Health and Social Services Councils:

  • Southern Health and Social Services Council
  • Eastern Health and Social Services Council
