How can WE Help?

Our team specialises in clinical negligence law. We only act for victims of medical accidents and do not represent doctors. We act for clients locally and all over the country, as well as occasionally abroad. We have an experienced team who are used to dealing with clients who may still be distressed by their experiences and who, at times, may be unsure of what exactly has happened to them. We are also used to discussing medical issues - which may sometimes be of a personal nature - in a clear and sensitive way. We aim to give you straightforward and honest advice at every stage.

  • Litigation claims (suing for compensation)

If, after talking things through with you, we believe you have a valid clinical negligence claim, we can help you to obtain compensation for your injuries. In the main, this will be limited to financial compensation but, increasingly, Defendants will acknowledge that they have failed in their duty to you and provide a full apology.

Michelmores is one of a limited number of firms that has been approved by the Legal Services Commission to undertake clinical negligence litigation. This means we can act for clients who have the benefit of Public Funding ("Legal Aid"), and we will be able to advise you whether you are likely to qualify.  In many cases in which Public Funding is not available, we can discuss the possibility of a Conditional Fee ("No Win No Fee") Agreement.  We also act for clients who have insurance cover, and some who pay us on a private basis.  For more information on funding options, see Funding a Claim.

We handle cases from across the full spectrum of medical treatment. Our claims range from those with relatively low monetary value to multi-million pound cases. We instruct leading experts from our extensive database and have links with the major specialist barristers' chambers in London. We also have access to medical literature relevant to any litigation under investigation.

Elsewhere on this website you will find detailed information about how a clinical negligence claim works.  For a guide to what you can do initially for yourself, please see What Can You Do?.

  • Inquests

Our team has extensive experience of representing clients who have lost loved-ones at Inquests.  We have produced a detailed guide to Inquests - what they are, how they work, and how we can help - which you can read here.

  • Other medical law

We also have wide experience of other areas of medical law, including  disciplinary investigations and inquiries.  We are happy to provide initial advice as to your options, and any representation that we can.   For more details, please see the Alternatives to Litigation section of this site.

We like to think of ourselves as a very open and friendly team, and we often discuss cases amongst ourselves. Therefore, if your own solicitor is not available to speak to you, another member of the team will always be happy to discuss your concerns with you.
